Runway analysis - Synthetic Silhouette

Clean lines and body conscious geometric panelling were heavily featured on the runway’s fall 2012 collections, incorporating a new and minimalist use of synthetic materials resembling hi-technology. A very monochrome colour palette enhanced by vivid highlights of orange.

Line up - Synthetic silhouettes

fabrics and colour-utility inverted

I know we have pink and yellow silks and neoprene selected for this trend, but I've added in Some blue/green matte silks (above) I have as a lot of the inverted colours come out blue/green yellow? what do we think? tried to balance out the really vibrant pink blue and yellow with some more subtle tones

two tone/inverted colour blocking experiments

experiments plus a street style image that I think could be a key silhouette, also quite like the low slung maxi skirt/ trouser idea from our photo/film session the other day?

design EXPERIMENTS

A few experiments playing around with colour and layering, drawing from utility research and photos from the other day. I've taken the colours from the inverted images, these aren't finals just experimentation!! Trying to figure out ways to use the folded down ideas from the other day and layering in a different way.

Glass!!! :)

Glass pieces- I really like how the glass reflects off the camera so the pictures aren't perfect- it really fits in with whole technology interupted thing  :)

Extensive arrays of digital prints have been displayed during the latest catwalk collections of this season. Being interpreted into the sleek and clinically simple design aspects of key looks, with the use of fabric manipulation and print placements being at the forefront of many a collection. Subtle brights contrasted with muted tones create elegance and interest within these styles, which have lead to digitalized prints sitting within the collections as design features. This allows for the garments to have an overall feeling of minimalism, using the prints as a subtle way of injecting a feeling of contrast and complexity within these simple styles.
