- luxury as time, saying no to the fast pace and constant of technology
- hand craft, taking time, seeing money spent - buying less and paying more
- Liza Lou, tompe l'oeil, intricacy, beading as a canvas
- imitating surfaces, objects and fabrics
- knitwear imitating graphs - us imitating denim and tweed, know as hard wearing fabrics contrast with the intricacy of beading
we began looking at hand crafts and the idea of turning our backs on technology. Seeing luxury as time away from the fast pace and constant that technology has brought us. Allowing the customer to see their money spent on skilled, time consuming craft with the idea of buying less but spending more. Visiting Liza Lou's exhibition at the White Cube gallery with a Trome L'oeil intricacy and looking at beading as a canvas rather than a detail. The idea of imitating objects, surfaces and fabrics such as Natalie Rachel's knitwear which reinterprets graph patterns. We will be focusing on denim and tweed. traditionally hard wearing fabric which would offer a contrast when remade in intricate bead work.
