Laser cut silhouettes

I'm not sure if this is what we were thinking of in terms of 'synthetic silhouettes' but this is an example of laser cut neoprene. It's a similar idea to the paper thin plastic gowns we have on the foam board.

The only issue is how to find a new way of interpreting these new techniques as a trend?
